Looking for a kick-ass Eric Church live performance?

Today’s your lucky day. The “Chief” himself must have been feeling a little nostalgic because he sent out a reminder on his socials that he once ROCKED the iconic Red Rocks with an impassioned performance of “Chattanooga Lucy.” As a big fan of Church’s, I was happy to see that he had sent out the reminder.

The performance took place in 2016 when the country star played a two-night solo stand at the outdoor amphitheater. Both nights of Church’s mostly unplugged performances were so good that they generated a live album, which was cleverly named Mr. Misunderstood: On The Rocks.

And included in that album was his spirited performance of his 2015 hit “Chattanooga Lucy,” which you can view a portion of in the clip he shared below:

How good is that?

If you call yourself a fan of Eric’s, you already know that “Chattanooga Lucy” was included in his all-timer of an album Mr. Misunderstood. The project was chalk full of what are now considered some of Church’s best songs, like the title track, “Round Here Buzz,” and “Record Year.”

One of my favorites from the album, if not my undisputable favorite, is “Chattanooga Lucy.” Mainly because of the catchy, fast-paced, slightly chaotic (pace wise) chorus that Church brings to life in the song:

“Oh my, my Chattanooga LucyWoman, what it is you do to meForbidden fruit, it sure is juicyYou got me comin’ around, comin’ around

Oh my, my Chattanooga LucyBreak me easy or bend me bluesyHold on tight or hold on looselyKeep me comin’ around, comin’ around.”

It doesn’t get any better than the studio version of that… unless you put Eric Church in one of the most recognizable music venues in the world, in front of thousands of his screaming fans, to play “Chattanooga Lucy.” Yeah, I guess it does get better than the studio version, since this video of this live performance exists:
