Talk about a way to end the summer.
Lainey Wilson is dropping some big news this morning, announcing a new album, Whirlwind. Slated for an August 23rd release via Music Group/BMG Nashville, the Louisiana native is ready to move fans with this next chapter of her singing and songwriting career.
While Wilson is in the thick of her Country’s Cool Again Tour, many fans thought the tour, accompanied by the hit single, would be the name of her next album. However, at Country Thunder in Arizona, Wilson noted in an interview that it would not be the name of her next project.
Wilson announced the album name and noted that this chapter of music is some of the most personal in her catalog to date.
“I am so excited to finally announce Whirlwind. This album has been a long time coming, and I can’t wait for the world to have this body of work in their hands soon.
This new chapter of music is the most cathartic and personal piece of art I’ve ever made. I hope this record brings some peace to your whirlwind and wraps its arms around you like it did for me.”
Although Wilson thinks this chapter of music will be vulnerable, she is also confident that it will resonate with fans. During her interview at Country Thunder, she noted that it will be more powerful than the songs on the Grammy Award-winning album Bell Bottom Country.
“So basically, I am working on some stuff right now, and I can’t wait to tell y’all about it. It is…I mean I’m partial because all the songs I write I mean they are my babies. But at the end of the day, I do feel like…uh, this next batch of stuff…If ‘Bell Bottom Country’ did it, I can’t wait to see what this does.”
Working with producer Jay Joyce, Whirlwind will extend Wilson’s signature sound on the previous records. Listeners can expect to hear storylines highlighting feelings of being on top of the world, in a valley, or somewhere in between. There will be a track on this album for everyone, no matter the array of emotions you are dealing with.
Lainey Wilson has been dominating the scene, and based on her statements about Whirlwind, she will likely keep that up. August 23rd better come quick.
