A new label and new music.

Miranda Lambert announced today that she has found a new label home in Republic Records (a New York City-based label), which will also include support from the Nashville-based label Big Loud for country radio promotion, in addition to other marketing and strategic efforts.

Miranda left her longtime label Sony last year, and started a new venture as partner at a brand new label, Big Loud Texas, so I’m not surprised to see her make a deal like this. With Republic, she’ll be able to have a broader reach and with Big Loud (Morgan Wallen, Ernest, Hardy), of course she’ll have the continued support within country directly.

And even more exciting than that, Miranda also announced a new song called “Wranglers” is dropping next Friday, May 3rd. It’s the song she’s been teasing on her social media, and I already love the sound of it so next week can’t come soon enough:

Miranda says the song tells the tale of a woman “taking her power back” and settling the score when someone does her wrong, and as the teaser visuals have suggested, harkens back to the early, scorned “Kerosene” era Miranda that I love so much:

“‘Wranglers’ is a tale of a woman taking her power back.

I think we can all identify with the character in this song, because we have all had a time in our life that we needed to find a way to find our strength and also get a little revenge on someone that did us wrong or hurt us.”

She added that it feels like “Wranglers” falls right in line with “Gunpowder & Lead,” which makes me even more excited to hear it:

“Music is and always will be the thing that drives me, but having a new home has given me a hunger I didn’t realize I still had inside me.

This song feels like it could be on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’; it has that same fury. I can’t wait to get out there with this new label and this new music.”

This fiery version of Miranda is my absolute favorite, and I’ve always loved and admired her “take no prisoners” attitude and take on country music that gave her a real start in the genre way back when. From the looks of all this, it’s safe to say she’s still got it too.

REPUBLIC Founder and Chairman, Monte Lipman, says they’re “thrilled” to have her on the label in partnership with Big Loud:

“Miranda Lambert’s legacy as both a consummate storyteller and legendary performer speaks for itself. Her new music is spectacular and we are thrilled and honored to welcome her to Republic Records in partnership with Big Loud.”

And possibly most exciting of all, REPUBLIC President and Chief Operating Officer, Jim Roppo says Miranda is in the process of putting “the final touches on her fantastic new body of work,” which means we probably have an album coming this year too.

She released her most recent record Palomino back in 2022, so I’d say we’re long overdue for a new project:

“We’re honored Miranda Lambert has entrusted us with this next chapter of her career.

As she puts the final touches on her fantastic new body of work, it has all the hallmarks of her signature sound, yet she continues to push herself as a songwriter, producer and performer. We’re all at the beginning of a very special moment, and we’re grateful to be on this journey with her.”

Stay tuned…

In addition, Miranda is slated to headline Stagecoach festival this Saturday, April 27th, and has several tour dates on the calendar for the rest of 2024.
