OJ Simpson Died On The Same Day Thousands Of Ford Broncos Were Recalled

Life has a way of being poetic.

The world found out earlier today that famous footballer, movie star, memorabilia collector…oh and accused murderer OJ Simpson passed away on April 10th at the age of 76. Though Simpson insisted until rather recently that he was doing fine health wise, he was dealing with prostate cancer, and succumbed to the disease after a brief battle.

His family confirmed his passing with a post that was sent out on all of his social media accounts:

“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”

The comments were turned off on that post because… well people on social media have been making a lot of jokes at OJ’s expense. They aren’t letting the man rest in peace, and I’ve got a feeling the late, great Norm MacDonald would be proud.

Norm would have also loved that there was a massive recall on the very vehicle that OJ Simpson made famous, or infamous, when he fled from the police while in a white Ford Bronco in 1994. The timing could not have been any stranger to be honest:

“After a much larger recall in 2022, Ford is recalling an additional 42,652 Bronco Sport and Escape SUVs from the 2022 and 2023 model years because a fuel injector may crack and leak gasoline inside the engine compartment, which could cause a fire.”

In a classic case of “any publicity is good publicity,” you can’t sit there and tell anyone that the Ford Bronco didn’t benefit in some form or fashion from being OJ’s getaway car of choice. Ford even discontinued the Bronco for quite some time in an attempt to distance themselves from the whole ordeal, though funny enough, they later introduced a model called the Ford Escape.

Coincidence? I think not, and I only knew that thanks to a joke that was featured on the cult classic sitcom Arrested Development:

Hilarious, right?

But anyways, social media has had a lot of weird fun “celebrating” OJ’s passing today, and they continued to have a ball when they found out that OJ had passed away on the same day as a sizable Ford Bronco recall:
