Former NFL star Vince Young was known for his ability to take hits on the football field, but that skill apparently doesn’t translate to a Texas bar.
The standout quarterback first made a name for himself with his heroics at the University of Texas, leading the Longhorns to a National Championship in 2006. Young, a Heisman Trophy runner-up, then went on to play in the NFL.
He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2006 and stayed with them until 2010. Following his time with the Titans, he bounced around on one years deals, and ultimately retired in 2014.
Fast forward 10 years later, and the former standout athlete found himself in a different kind of “contact sport.” Young was involved in a literal knock-down, drag-out bar fight in Texas back in February. The public is only hearing about it now because the security camera footage was released.
Tokyo Joe’s Shot Bar (great name for a bar) was the location of the kerfuffle, one that didn’t go all that well for the former NFL star. In the video, Vince Young is wearing a black shirt with a white hat, and he absolutely gets his you-know-what handed to him by another bar goer. Granted, it was quite the sucker punch, but big tree fall hard, eh?
The Houston Police Department responded to the scene and found out that the fight allegedly got started after Young and another man exchanged heated words about race. Things turned physical after something touchy was said, and the skirmish included every aspect of your typical bar fight:
-People trying to hold one person back
-A drink getting thrown in someone else’s face
-Someone getting knocked out cold
That certain someone in this case was Vince Young. Things seemed to be calming down after the fight moved over into another part of the bar, and Young must have let his guard down.
Once he did, a flying fist from the other man connected with the former football player, and Vince Young went crashing down to the ground. He reportedly stayed there for quite some time before eventually getting up on his own.
There were reportedly no pressed charges, which is wild considering how wild the bar fight was. You can view the footage below:
