New music from Wade Bowen coming in hot.

The Texas native has been working on his tenth studio album, Flyin, which Bowen announced this morning, is slated for a May 10th release. The 12-track record is the second fully self-produced project that Bowen has done, and the tracklist highlights the diversity he possesses in his songwriting and sound. From classic honky tonk twangers to a Texas love song to the state that raised him, there is a wide range sonically that this album will deliver.

Bowen really embraced his individuality on this project diving into his storytelling as he wrote the tracks for this album.

“More than ever, people need to hear songwriters talk about their lives. We don’t always have to search for monster hits. We can just write about our lives and maybe that might actually work. That’s what this record is a lot of. A lot of massive songs, but also a lot of me just writing authentically and honestly about my life.

I feel like I’m flying into this chapter where I’m the best version of myself that I’ve ever been. Y’all better catch up or you’re getting left behind. I’m on fire!”

Coinciding with the album announcement, Bowen also dropped the lead single “Rainin On Me.”

“From embracing complete sadness in the rain to drowning sorrows in a bar and contemplating while driving down Texas roads, I’m proud of this one and so excited that it’s now yours!”

“Rainin On Me” features the classic Texas twang that Bowen fans know and love him for, while the songwriting poses a new take on heartbreak. The narrator is going through a tough time, and while he recognizes that he is in the trenches with his feelings, he wonders if the woman he let go of has the same rain cloud over her head.

“Does the day feel dark as night, but that sky’s blue?
Is the whiskey and the tears comin’ down in sheets?
Did the flood gates open and let that heartbreak run through?
Is it rainin’ on you, like it’s rainin’ on me?
Yeah, like it’s rainin’ on me..”

Bowen picked a stellar single to lead off this album announcement because I have already played “Rainin’ On Me” numerous times and added it to playlists. I am very excited to see what else this next chapter of Bowen’s songwriting holds.
