Once again, we have a Florida man making headlines for all of the wrong reasons.
Do y’all remember watching The Dukes Of Hazzard as a kid, and dreaming of jumping a bridge in a badass sports car? Maybe a little Smokey And The Bandit? Yeah I did too, until I realized my chances of dying were a lot higher than living.
However, some batshit crazy dude in Daytona Beach, Florida, had the bright idea to try this out for himself yesterday.
The bridge crosses the Halifax River, and I guess the guy was just feeling super edgy in his SUV… or you know, he just REALLY had somewhere to be.
According to WESH 2, he broke through the traffic arm that was blocking the way at full speed, and made it across right before the drawbridge was lifted too high, and then proceeded to break the traffic arm on the other side.
This is a bold strategy to say the least, especially in a top heavy car like an SUV.
Daytona Beach police has stated that they believe they have identified the driver of the vehicle, but nothing is set in stone yet.
If I were the police, I’d just let the guy off the hook. This takes some nerves of steel to pull this kind of stuff off.
Then again, that’s the part they don’t show you in the movies… getting caught. Just another day in the life of a Florida man.
